Mercedes-Benz ha annunciato un nuovo corso strategico che perseguirà una crescita redditizia nel segmento del lusso e mirerà alla leadership nella trazione elettrica e nel software per auto. Una strategia che si concentra sul futuro: veicoli elettrici su piattaforme dedicate e software per auto proprietari. "Attraverso questa nuova strategia sottolineiamo il nostro chiaro impegno per la completa elettrificazione del nostro portafoglio di prodotti e la determinazione a garantire che tutto il nostro ciclo produttivo sia completamente a emissioni zero, in linea con gli obiettivi di ‘Ambition 2039”, ha dichiarato Ola Källenius, Chairman del Board of Management di Daimler AG e Mercedes-Benz AG. La strategia recentemente annunciata prevede la ridefinizione del portafoglio di prodotti e della comunicazione stessa del Marchio per offrire una nuova esperienza del lusso, sempre più elettrica, basata su software e, naturalmente, sostenibile. Strategiche saranno anche le nuove piattaforme EVA (Electric Vehicle Architecture), dedicata alle vetture di segmenti superiori ed MMA (Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture), progettata, invece, per auto compatte e di medie dimensioni. Dal 2025 si punta a forti margini di contribuzione per tutte le nuove architetture grazie all'elevata condivisione, ad investimenti controllati e alla continua diminuzione dei costi dei sistemi di batterie. Entro il 2030, il portafoglio elettrificato xEV sarà gradualmente espanso, fino a raggiungere una quota superiore al 50% sul totale dei prodotti e nello stesso periodo il numero di varianti di motori a combustione diminuirà del 70%.
Electric First
Nell'ambito della strategia ‘Electric First’, il prossimo anno debutteranno la nuova EQA, l’EQS e l’EQS AMG, mentre all’inizio del 2022 sono attese la EQB e la EQE. La EQS sarà la prima vettura realizzata sulla nuova architettura EVA (Electric Vehicle Architecture) e avrà un'autonomia elettrica di oltre 700 km (WLTP). Sarà seguita dall'EQE, dall'EQS-SUV e dall'EQE-SUV. Dal 2025, molti altri modelli arricchiranno il portafoglio di veicoli elettrici grazie alla seconda nuovissima piattaforma elettrica dedicata, la Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA), progettata per auto compatte e di medie dimensioni. Mercedes-Benz trasferirà ancora più risorse e competenze nello sviluppo di prodotti a trazione elettrica e investirà in nuove tecnologie e driver per accelerare l'autonomia e l'efficienza elettrica. La prossima generazione di motori elettrici è sviluppata internamente e sarà caratterizzata da inverter sofisticati e tecnologia ad alta tensione. L'azienda sta compiendo enormi passi avanti nella tecnologia delle batterie, con la ricerca e lo sviluppo di batterie prodotte ‘in house’ accompagnata da partnership con i principali player strategici CATL, Farasis e Sila Nano, oltre naturalmente a Geely Holding Group con cui è stato recentemente annunciato l’accordo per lo sviluppo di un sistema di propulsori altamente efficiente, specifico per le applicazioni ibride. Mercedes-Benz ha, inoltre, annunciato il programma di sviluppo tecnologico Vision EQXX, con l’obiettivo di costruire un veicolo elettrico dotato di un'efficienza e un'autonomia sorprendenti. Mercedes-Benz ha incaricato il suo team di ingegneri di spingere i confini dell'autonomia elettrica e dell'efficienza formando una squadra interfunzionale e multidisciplinare con sede a Stoccarda, supportato da specialisti del gruppo Mercedes-Benz F1 HPP (High Performance Powertrain) nel Regno Unito, che portano il proprio know-how per aumentare la velocità di sviluppo, forti dell’esperienza nel motorsport. Sebbene Vision EQXX sia un programma di sviluppo tecnologico, si prevede che porterà a innovazioni che si faranno rapidamente strada nelle auto di serie.
L’eletrificazione dei sub-brand: AMG, Maybach e G
Si punterà anche sui sub brand attraverso una strategia che li eleverà ad un livello ancora superiore, accelerandone lo sviluppo e mettendone a frutto tutto il potenziale. Già a partire dal 2021 l’elettrificazione diventerà, infatti, un elemento sempre più caratterizzante delle performance di Mercedes-AMG. Allo stesso tempo si intensificheranno i legami con la Formula 1, per riflettere in maniera ancora più incisiva la sua l’identità di sub brand ad alte prestazioni della Stella. Anche Mercedes-Maybach perseguirà obiettivi globali, raddoppiando i volumi e diventando elettrico, così come la leggendaria Classe G, che aumenterà la propria capacità produttiva ed entrerà nell’era della mobilità a zero emissioni. Con il marchio EQ, Mercedes-Benz continuerà a rivolgersi ad un pubblico nuovo, con prodotti all’avanguardia ad alta tecnologia, costruiti su architetture elettriche dedicate.
MB.OS: il primo sistema operativo evoluto, sviluppato ‘in house’ da una casa automobilistica
Nell'area del software per auto, Mercedes-Benz ha recentemente annunciato il futuro debutto del sistema operativo proprietario MB.OS, sviluppato internamente in casa, il cui lancio è previsto nel 2024. Ciò consentirà di centralizzare il controllo di tutte le aree di dominio dei veicoli e anche delle sue interfacce utente. Lo sviluppo di un software proprietario consentirà una maggiore velocità e aggiornamenti più frequenti e sarà progettato attorno ad architetture scalabili che permettono il controllo di futuri costi di sviluppo.
